Fans have been clamoring for an N.W.A. reunion since the critical and commercial success of last year’s biopic Straight Outta Compton.

And the remaining members of the legendary hip-hop group pleased thousands in attendance as they hit the stage together for the first time in over 25 years.

Dr. Dre came out as a surprise guest during Ice Cube’s headlining performance at the second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on Saturday night.

The two stars were joined by fellow members MC Ren and DJ Yella as the mini-reunion marked the first show by all living N.W.A members since 1989.

After Cube, Ren and Yella performed hit Straight Outta Compton , the headliner teased the crowd by asking if there was ‘a doctor’ in the house.

As the crowd went wild, 51-year-old Dre – who has kept his performances at a minimum in recent years – took the stage to join his former bandmates.

Sporting a simple black T-shirt and slacks, Dr. Dre led his former group in rapping his self-referential 2001 solo track Still Dre.

Cube wore an Oakland Raiders New Era fitted hat along with a white Khalil Mack jersey from the same NFL American Football team with matching white trousers.

The foursome also performed Dre’s 1996 hit with deceased legendary rapper Tupac Shakur, California Love, but did not do any of N.W.A.’s own songs together.

It has been 27 years since the group had performed together as Dre and Cube, 46, joined forces for the Up In Smoke Tour in 2000 featuring some of the biggest names at hip-hop at the time.

DJ Yella, however, had not joined his band mates from 1989 until last year.

 

Eazy-E, widely seen as the leader of N.W.A., died in 1995 from complications from AIDS but his son, Lil Eazy-E, joined at Coachella.

N.W.A., which stands for Niggaz Wit Attitudes — were nicknamed the world’s most dangerous group in the 1980s as the rappers jolted the United States with unfiltered tales of street life and police brutality.

The group returned to the spotlight last year with a Hollywood biopic, “Straight Outta Compton,” and earlier this month was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Dr. Dre showed up for the induction but the group did not perform and he skipped a one-off reunion show timed for the movie.

Instead, Dr. Dre marked the movie by releasing an album entitled “Compton” which the 51-year-old said would be his last.

For the second weekend, Ice Cube closed his set by bringing out younger-generation rapper and Compton-native Kendrick Lamar to perform his hit song Alright.
