Report: Arsenal now want to sign 6ft 4in striker who’s ‘better than Erling Haaland in almost everything’

We’re 11 days into the January transfer window and Arsenal haven’t really lifted a finger yet.

The Gunners could do with reinforcements in multiple areas of the pitch, but if you go and ask most Arsenal fans, they will tell you that a new striker should be the priority.

Ivan Toney has been heavily linked over the last few months, as has Victor Osimhen. However, both of them will be extremely expensive in this window, which is probably why the Gunners are looking elsewhere.

The Telegraph claim that Arsenal are now eyeing a move to sign Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna. The 22-year-old is having a fine season in Italy, having scored eight goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances so far.

The Dutchman, who stands 6ft 4in tall, would offer something different to Arsenal’s attack, but the report claims that a move is complicated as Bologna want a fee in the region of £50 million.

It is unclear if Arsenal would be able to make such an investment in this window after spending in excess of £200 million last summer.

Arsenal are competing against Manchester City for the Premier League title this season, and Pep Guardiola has the best striker in the world at his disposal – Erling Haaland.

The Norway international scored 52 goals in all competitions last season and already has 19 this term. He’s among the biggest reasons why Manchester City are so successful, but imagine how good Arsenal could be if they signed a striker who’s better than Haaland.

Well, journalist Suleyman Ozturk claimed on Voetbal International in October 2022 that Bologna’s Zirkzee is a level above the Manchester City forward ‘in almost everything’.

He said: “He’s better than Erling Haaland in almost everything, only the monster in him is missing.”
