Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, a popular mobile video game that is shutting down almost after a decade. Players who launch the game are now greeted with a message alerting players that it “no longer offers in-app purchases and has been removed from app stores.”
Launched in June 2014, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is a free role-playing game developed by Glu Mobile, a company which has since been acquired by Electronic Arts (EA) in 2021. The gameplay involves players aiming to increase their reputation with the ultimate goal of making it to Hollywood’s A-list celebrities.
Players can get fans, money and experience by completing various tasks like booking modelling jobs, making appearances at clubs, going on dates and taking up acting jobs. While the game is free to play, players can purchase clothing, accessories and energy using in-game currency called ‘K-stars’ or watching ads. It also featured appearances from other members of Kim’s family like Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner.

While the developers are not allowing new installs and sign-ups, a post on Glu Mobile’s user forum states that gamers will be able to continue playing and use in-game currency until April 8, after which the servers will be shut down. The developers also note that VIP subscribers will have to cancel their subscriptions manually.
Soon after the game was launched in 2014, a CNN report estimated that the title was earning $700,000 every day. In 2016, Forbes said that Kim Kardashian: Hollywood generated somewhere around $160 million in two years and had more than 45 million downloads.
