She has been hard at work in recent weeks filming her upcoming film of the musical Wicked.

And Ariana Grande shared a new look at a key part of her costume with her 336 million Instagram followers on Wednesday when she unveiled her new blonde hair.

The 29-year-old singer and actress stars in the two-part adaptation as Glinda the Good Witch, who sports a blonde mane to contrast the lead Elphaba’s jet black hair.

Ariana revealed her blonde hair in an Instagram photo of her profile, though it was oddly oriented so that she she appeared to be facing up.

The look was somewhat reminiscent of her Sweetener LP cover, on which she showed off a more silver shade of hair and the image was flipped upside down.

The hitmaker appeared to have dyed her hair rather than resorting to a wig, and she had also tinted her eyebrows a similar shade of blonde to match the look.

She closed her eyes in the delicate photo while wearing a casual black shirt and modest pearl earrings.

‘New earrings,’ she captioned the post while playfully ignoring her new hair.

The photo was a hit with fans, as more than three million users had pressed the like button within just a few hours.

Ariana’s friend and collaborator Victoria Monet commented, ‘She’s arrived,’ while director Jon M. Chu joked, ‘Earrings look great!’

Ariana’s new look puts her in line with the classic conception of Wicked’s Galinda, who later goes by Glinda the Good.

Kristin Chenoweth originated the role for the original Broadway cast, and she wore her blonde hair in thick curls to contrast Elphaba’s sleek black locks.

Elphaba, originally played by Idina Menzel and played in the film adaptation by Cynthia Erivo, is portrayed prior to the events of The Wizard Of Oz, when she and Galinda are friends.

Elphaba eventually takes up the title Wicked Witch of the West after she discovers the corruption of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

She seemed to be hard at work perfecting the dance numbers for Wicked, as she shared a selfie taken with star Cynthia Erivo in a dance studio while wearing dance shoes.

Back in April, director Jon Chu — who also helmed the popular romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians — revealed that Wicked would be following the pattern set out by several recent blockbusters of being split into two parts.

Chu said that squeezing the story into a two-hour film would require cutting out significant plot points and characters, so the decision was made to keep as much of the story intact for loyal fans.
