Chance Perdomo, Known for Gen V, Truly Auditioned for the Lead Role in ‘The Boys’.

Chance Perdomo, who plays Andre in Gen V, originally wanted a very different role in The Boys.

Gen V actor Chance Perdomo has revealed the role he originally wanted.

Speaking to Variety, Chance Perdomo, who plays Andre Anderson on the spin-off series Gen V, stated that he actually auditioned for a role in the original TV adaptation The Boys. “I came into this as a fan of ‘The Boys,’ I actually had originally auditioned for Hughie, years ago,” the actor said. “I read it and I thought it was such a great script. And I was like, ‘Whether I get it or not, I still want to watch the show.’ Then I watched ‘The Boys‘ and I think, ‘Wow this has never been done, it’s amazing.’ So then to get Andre was such a blessing because I come into it and I get to enjoy the playground that is ‘The Boys‘ universe.”

Andre Anderson and Hughie are Vastly Different Characters

As Andre in Gen V, Perdomo plays a popular superhero student at Godolkin University, a prestigious college for promising superheroes. Andre is one of the top ranked students at Godolkin, with the power to control metal telepathically. After his best friend and Godolkin University poster child Golden Boy takes his own life, Andre teams up with fellow students Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Emma Meyer (Lizzie Broadway) and Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) to investigate what’s going on behind the scenes of their university.

In contrast to Andre’s effortlessly cool bad boy character, the role Perdomo originally auditioned for is nervous, awkward and one of the few non-supe main characters of The Boys. Hughie (played by Jack Quaid) is one of the main characters of the original series and acts as the catalyst for The Boys when his girlfriend is accidentally killed by A-Train running through her. The moment acts as a great introduction for viewers to the series, showing a glimpse of the absurd superhero violence that lies ahead.

Gen V recently wrapped up its first season, while the fourth season of The Boys will hopefully be coming soon. Although there is not yet an official release window, promo posters featuring Billy the Butcher and Homelander (who also had two surprise cameos in the spin-off series) have already been released, continuing the hype for fans. The previous third season of The Boys left some serious cliffhangers that viewers are more than eager to see play out.
