Fat Joe Credits Drake For Keeping Hip-Hop Relevant on Billboard Chart

Rapper-turned-podcaster, Fat Joe, had a lot to say about Drake on a recent episode of his and Jadakissâ podcast, Joe & Jada.
Fat Joe Credits Drake For Keeping Hip-Hop on The Charts
After SZA & Kendrick Lamarâs smash hit, Luther, fell out of the Billboard Top 40 since its release, it marked the first time since 1990 that no rap songs were on the list.
In light of the new development, Fat Joe stated that he believes Drake deserves credit for keeping hip-hop alive on the charts over the past decade.
âYou realize that Drake was probably keeping us in that top 40 for f*ckinâ 5, 10 years. Like, every record he made was going number 1,â he said. âI think heâs battling Michael Jackson for the most number 1s.â
However, fans on social media seemed to disagree.
âWhy couldnât he do it this year by dropping 30+ songs? And songs dropped recently?â one fan asked on X, formerly known as Twitter.
âDonât be obtuse. This happened because the label pushed his music. Please donât act like there hasnât been any good hip hop in the last 10 years. It just wasnât pushed by the label,â another user added.

Fat Joe Speaks Out on Drizzy Securing MJâs Record
Despite the industry seemingly turning against him, Drizzyâs influence is still undeniable. If he secures another number-one hit, it would pretty much immortalize him, as he would surpass music icon Michael Jackson. He has come close on several occasions in the last few months, but still no cigar.
Fat Joe previously insinuated that the âsoulâ of the pop icon wonât allow Drizzy to take the crown.
âI felt like the new track was really dope,â said Joe. âI listened to it a couple of times and uh you know heâs one number one away from Michael Jacksonâs record, and I think the soul of Michael Jackson is fighting that s**t cause every time he put out one you think itâs going to take that joint, just it back down.â
It will be interesting to see if Drake secures the crown with his new album, Iceman, reportedly dropping before the end of the year.
