The GoFundMe page supporting Lindsay Clancy’s parents has skyrocketed past $1.1 million just hours after a mistrial was declared in her murder case — and the fundraising goal has been bumped even higher.
The page, called “The Musgrove family fund,” was set up for Clancy’s parents, Mike and Paula Musgrove. As of Friday, it had raised over $1.16 million, closing in on a new $3 million target.
Organizer Brandee Mulligan announced the goal increase on the same day the mistrial was announced. She explained that because the legal process has stretched out, the Musgroves will need continued support.
“The original purpose of this fundraiser hasn’t changed — it’s simply to take one thing off their plate while they continue to show up for their family,” Mulligan wrote in an update.
A GoFundMe spokesperson confirmed the page is verified and said all funds go directly to Mike Musgrove as the intended beneficiary.
Mulligan, a mother of three, previously told the Daily Mail she launched the page without asking the Musgroves first, hoping it would work out.
The fundraiser’s bio states that Mike and Paula are the named beneficiaries and that Lindsay’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, is aware of the page.
Clancy’s trial lasted seven weeks. She was accused of murdering her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and baby Callan, 8 months — by strangling them with exercise bands.
Her defense argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, worsened by prescription medications. Prosecutors claimed she was in her right mind and had planned the killings.
The jury of nine women and three men sent three impasse notes before Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on the seventh day of deliberations.
Supporters flooded the page with donations ranging from $5 to $300, along with messages of sympathy. Three donors gave $5,000 each during the trial.
“My heart is with Lindsay and her parents. I cannot imagine the depth of the pain your family has endured,” one donor wrote.
